Community Groups
Here are a few of
the
Community Groups involved.

Womenspace
Womenspace has grown from a confidentially located shelter and twenty-four
hour crisis line to a multi-faceted organization that in addition to basic
crisis services supports a strong, county-wide domestic violence council,
a publicly located drop-in Advocacy Center, legal advocacy via a
collaborative legal clinic, transitional year-long case management
services, domestic violence specialists housed in local welfare and child
protective service offices, three rural outreach offices, an extensive
community education program offering training from the most basic to
highly specialized curricula, and a host of collaborative relationships
with local and federal partners.
Bus Project
The Bus is an
innovative vehicle for hands-on democracy. We drive votes, leaders, and
change. (And yes, we have a bus.) We’re not mass transit, but we’re in
favor of that sort of thing. We’re about people-powered politics. We’re
building a movement. Not left, not right, but forward.
Looking Glass
Looking Glass is a private, nonprofit
organization that each year serves more than 7,000 at-risk youth and families, primarily in Lane County, Oregon. We are committed to assisting
our clients in navigating life’s challenges, so that they can lead
healthier, happier and more productive lives.
Eugene
Permaculture Guild
The Eugene
Permaculture Guild (EPG) seeks to educate the community and
ourselves in the principles of sustainable living or ‘regenerative design’
as it is now often called. We arrange workshops, work parties, potlucks,
an annual Plant and Seed Swap, and jointly sponsor many other
sustainability-related presentations and events during the course of a
year - including the annual Bioregional Permaculture Gathering.
Boys &
Girls Club of Emerald Valley
Boys & Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley is
going GREEN (what other color would we be)! Members and staff have
collectively decided to transform our Club into an
environmentally-conscientious place. In every community, boys and girls
are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An
increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or
supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys
& Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and
enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of
competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a
safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The
Positive Place For Kids.
Eugene PeaceWorks
Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers
and members like you, our organization has been an active presence in
the community since its founding in 1981. For twenty-five years, we have
been promoting local and international cooperation in the Peace and
Justice Movement. We support a commitment to world peace, social and
environmental justice issues through nonviolent grassroots action,
education and mutual empowerment to show that peace works.
